Reviews:
Amy by Mary Hopper -
This book is about a girl called Amy that
loses her friends and tries to find new friends on the internet. When she's on
the internet she finds this guy called "Zed". "Zed" is kinda like her internet
boyfriend and they get to know each other very well. After a couple of weeks,
Zed wants to meet Amy face to face. I really liked this book and it made me
realize that you can't fully know people over the internet. Crystal -age 13

Be More Chill by Ned
Vizzini - This book is about a
boy who is really unpopular and he wants to win the heart of Christine.
And Jeremy can't. So soon he gets an illegal drug called a squip. It
goes into your brain and controls how cool you are but soon the squip leads to
dark things. I really liked this book. It even sometimes showed that
he didn't need a squip to win over Christine. Leah -age 13.

Whatever You Say I Am:
the Life and Times of Eminem by Anthony Bozza -
Eminem grew up in Detroit Michigan.
His mom left so he bought a trailer. (before he was famous) And he lived
in the slums, where drugs were though he didn't approve of drugs. Then one
day the house was robbed. Robbed of his wife, daughter and him. He
broke in 3 more times. The only thing he really had was hip-hop at age 17!
He loved rap. He found himself. Soon he decided to make his own
record on a album called Infinite. But it wasn't so easy. Eminem
recalls that people would cuss at him cause he was white. So he decided to stop
for awhile. So he got a gob at Gilbert Lodge. He still couldn't have
enough money to raise Hailie (his child). Even Kim's (wife) family hated
him. He was so depressed. Then he met Paul Rosenburg. He
believed in Eminem and got his record Infinite started. And soon it sold
out. Then Eminem started writing more and more and singing too! Then
Eminem got in a band called D12=4 Detroit 12. A few years later, the night
before a rap battle everyone in his complex was evicted so he had to sleep on
the floor. He placed second that night. The say Eminem didn't win
the rap battle but he won the war. People didn't like white rappers.
Then Doctor Dre, a famous rapper heard about Eminem. And he didn't care he
was white. The song that introduced Eminem to the world was called, My
Name Is. Then it hit MTV and it was big. Soon he got so big the
media had to get involved. Eminem turned on the TV and all he ever heard
was lies, lies, and more lies. Then Eminem was arrested for starting a
fight with a guy who tried to make out with his wife - while was she was alive.
He was depressed. His life was going in the down direction. Soon he
was the most misunderstood man in America. But soon media stopped on him
when the incident at Colembine occurred. So in Eminems free time he wrote
a song for Kim called Remember Me, about her being murdered. Many didn't
agree with his movie 8 Mile but he was on the top list of rappers. Soon he
had 5 Grammies. 8 Mile showed why Eminem acted the way he did. He
even had his own reality show. Another popular movie was LOTR [Lord of the
Rings]. It reminded people of fighting evil. 8 Mile reminded them
why they were fighting. Now people like Agulera and Streisand were making
good comments. There were so many paperatizes. So... We can't judge
Em cause he has been through a lot. Sure he swears a lot but look at what
he has gone through! This book was pretty good. I got to understand
Eminem better but sometimes it went off subject. Leah -age 13

Under Pressure by Lara Zeises -
This was a great book! It is about a
14yo girl named Lucy. Her brother finally comes back from college and he
brings a surprise... Hannah. Lucy hates his new girlfriend but she finds
out they're moving IN! Everything has changed. Her best friends, Kim
and Kim have gone totally cheerleader. Ally has a new boy obsession and
Tabitha has lost her virginity. Then Lucy meets Tobin, a popular
sophomore. They start to go out and she has her first make out scene.
But as everything seems right Lucy finds out that Hannah is pregnant!
She'll be an Aunt. Now she has to cope with many struggles in her life.
This book is DEFINITELY added to my favorite book list. It shows that
there is a time for everything. She thought she was invisible and then
wins Tobin's heart. Leah -age 13
