Reading Booth (run by fantastic volunteers)

Monday through Thursday – 10am-8pm
Friday – 10am-2pm
This is when you bring your reading folder into the library to pick up all sorts of great prizes for reading. And when you finish your folder, you can turn it in to the volunteers and pick out a book to take home for keeps and enter into the raffle for a grand prize!
Last day to turn in folders and collect prizes is Friday July 26th @ 2pm

Family Scavenger Hunt
Pick up THE LIST between 6/10-6/22.
Collect as many items from THE LIST as you can in a shoebox.
Submit the shoebox and THE LIST between 6/24-7/6.
The ten families who collect the most items win a prize.
Winners will be notified by July 22.
Be Creative – Items on the list can be bought, created or found.
Unless the item is marked “picture”, “photo”, “drawing”, include the REAL item.
Substitutes are worth half a point.
The items in the shoebox will not be returned to you, so please don’t put anything valuable in the shoebox.

Family Fun Night @ HORICON MARCH
Tuesday, July 9 @ 5-9pm
MEET AT Horicon Marsh International Education Center.  Guided hikes, crafts, stargazing with Northern Cross Science Foundation, dip netting, scavenger hunt, storytimes, and more! Bring a picnic dinner if you wish!

Helping Hands
with the Volunteer Center

All Ages Welcome
Meet our “Read with Rover” Volunteers and Dogs!
Join us for some donuts and juice as we talk to a few volunteers, read some “Helpful” Stories, Make crafts to donate for the Humane Society and share how families and kids can work together to create a better world.

Family Chalk Art
Friday, July 19 @ 10 am
Come chalk the sidewalks of the library and display your artistic flair. Some chalk will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own!

Gnome Adventure
June 10 – August 3
Check out the gnome from the library, and take him on an adventure! Take a photo of the adventure and provide the library with a copy. We will have all photos on display at the library!

Battle of the Books
The Library does BOB a little different then the schools. At the kickoff, teams are formed. Whether you have friends and siblings you want to play with or you’re on your own, we’ll get all the teams together. The teams create their own Team Name and together design a poster to represent them in the competition. Teams work together to read the ten books before the first competition. Then we compete game show style. Every person will get something for participating but the winning team will win a bonus prize and move on to compete against 7 other libraries in the tri-county tournament.

Storytimes
Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ 10am (same stories both days)
Aimed at preschool children, but everyone is welcome.
(Count each storytime as 30 minutes of reading)

Teen Writing Contest
Look for the writing prompt by the YA Fiction area
and write a short story by July 9th.
(less than 4000 words)

Bring sack lunches – drinks will be provided. In case of rain, please eat at home and join us inside the library for the concert. If the weather is questionable (or if the ground is really soggy) you may call the library after 10am to find out if we’re inside or out.
