West Bend Community Memorial Library

Teacher Resources
The West Bend Library is an Education Support Center
To better serve the educational community, we offer the following resources and services to teachers.

Assignment Alert - Let the library know about an upcoming assignment and we can set aside books for check out or Reserve Collections (in library use only.)  This is helpful to our librarians to be aware of assignments so we can better help students who come in.

Customized Book List - We can create a book list on a subject for your students of available resources at the West Bend Library. (may also include websites) Many young adult book lists are available on the West Bend website.  Customized book lists can also be posted on the website for easy access. School Accelerated Reader Lists are also available behind the Information Desk in the Children's Area.  Please feel free to drop off your school's Accelerated Reading list or update the one we currently have.

Library Class Visits - We invite and encourage classes, grade levels or in the case of smaller schools, entire enrollments, to visit our library.  Visits may include full or partial tours, read aloud sessions, or catalog instruction.  Every effort will be made to accommodate each request.  Should a school or teacher desire library visits on a regular basis, we would be happy to discuss this possibility with you or the interested teacher(s).  Library Class Visits Form

Library Staff Visits to School - Library staff is available to attend inservice meetings or school open houses for the purpose of providing information about West Bend Library and Washington County Library Service, about registering school staff or students for library cards, or for discussing cooperative efforts and services such as Assignment Alerts and Reserve Collections.  Librarians are also available for classroom or school visits to booktalk or provide information about West Bend Library and the programs and services we provide.

School Circulation Service - An established service that is well used by many teachers in our library service area and is meant to enhance the curriculum and materials on hand.  Area schools may have a library card in house that can be used by authorized borrowers for a classroom collection.  Please see Jane Matko at the Circulation Desk for more details.  Terms of the School Circulation Service

Teacher Resource Collection - Materials are available to aid in curriculum planning and educating of children.  Also included in this area are such items as classroom activity ideas, science activity ideas, bulletin board ideas, homeschooling materials, and art project ideas for use by both parents and teachers.  The collection is located on the second floor at the end of the Oversize Material Shelving.
